Just a few days ago, during the WWDC 2023 event, Apple presented the new version of its operating system for iPhone, iOS 17, as well as iPadOS 17.
iOS 17 comes with a new journal-type app, which Apple representatives say will integrate with other apps and services to make it easier to complete entries, including automatically. These entries are encrypted to protect privacy.
iOS 17 also brings an upgrade to the Phone app, which will give users the possibility to set their own profile image, which will appear on the phones of the people in their contacts when they are called.
Messages will have a check-in feature, which will automatically send a message to loved ones when the user arrives at their destination after a long trip. Also, a message can be sent automatically to reassure loved ones when there are signal issues or the battery is about to run out, in order to avoid unnecessary worries. AirDrop will allow contact details to be exchanged simply by bringing two iPhones close together.
Siri, easier to call!
Siri will be much easier to call. Users no longer need to say the keyword “Hey”; from now on, to invoke commands, users can simply say “Siri”. The Maps app also comes with some improvements. The navigation app will allow certain regions to be downloaded for offline navigation. Sharing is also easier. NameDrop will allow you to share contact details simply by bringing your iPhone close to someone else’s device.
The new iOS 17 version introduces a new StandBy mode. When the phone is charging, useful information will be displayed, such as the calendar and temperature, or a slideshow with personal photos.
iPadOS 17 will benefit from some of the features that will be implemented in iOS 17, such as keyboard improvements and the automatic transcription of voice messages received through iMessage. Apple tablets will also receive some of the features launched last year with iOS 16. Among the most important are support for widgets and Live Activities on the lock screen.
As Apple representatives announced, the new operating systems will be released in the fall.
