Google, Drastic Measures Against Digital Inactivity!

Google, owned by Alphabet, will take a new series of drastic measures against digital inactivity. To limit hacking attempts, Google will delete, starting in December, accounts that have been inactive for at least two years.

The announcement was made just a few days ago by Alphabet representatives, Google’s parent company. According to them, if a Google account has not been used or signed into for at least two years, they may delete the account and its content from Google Workspace, which includes Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, and Calendar, as well as YouTube and Google Photos.

The policy change applies only to personal Google accounts, not to accounts for organizations such as schools or companies.

In 2020, Google said it would remove the content stored in an inactive account, but would not delete the account itself.

Google will send multiple notifications to the account’s email address and the recovery email of inactive accounts before deletion.

About a week ago, Elon Musk also said that Twitter would remove accounts that had been inactive for several years and archive them, saying that the action “is important to free up abandoned usernames”.
